Red faction: Armageddon includes destruction, and lots of it. You can still run around like you did in Red Faction: Guerilla smashing buildings to the ground with your hammer, but in this game you won’t want to. Volition has added an incredible new arsenal of weaponry designed to do just that. The standout being the devastating magnet gun, that can be used to fling pretty much anything into pretty much anything else. And a decent handful of these guns and gadgets are ready for you to play with right now, in the Red Faction: Armageddon demo.
Yesterday (21st April) the celebrity youtuber Freddy Wong uploaded A video about him winning a free unicorn from a pop-up. He then discovers the horrific truth that the unicorn can shoot rainbows out of it’s unmentionable. So whats that got to do with gaming?
THQ’s holding a game event in New York today, and while there, the publisher unveiled its brand new logo.
You know what? I’ll call it: 2011 will usher gaming into new realms. From 3D gaming, the Kinect revolution, which, by the way, technology developer PrimeSense is taking to PCs. We have the PSP2, the 3DS and probably the WiiHD or Wii2 coming all this year. That’s on the hardware side of things alone.
As for software, 2011 trumps all the years before it like a bulldozer ridding a piece of land of its grass. This year alone we’ll have Killzone 3, Gears of War 3, another Call of Duty, not to mention Black Ops DLC. Bulletstorm, Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, inFamous 2, Dead Space 2, Mass Effect 2 and so on.
Thankfully, GameInformer’s forged up a massive list featuring a release schedule for all platforms this year, including the DS and PSP. Apparently, according to the author, Far Cry 3 will be released in August of this year. Don’t know where he got that from so we’ll have to wait to hear more.
Either ways, hit the link, I think you’ll get to understand better why gaming’s all the buzz this year, and why it’ll leave many a gamer broke. Dead broke.
How will the core experience be on Kinect? It’s a question we’re waiting on a game to answer, and while Ubisoft dominated the Kinect third-party lineup, and TGS promises of a Star Wars Kinect game, THQ’s in the back, planning quietly to release one “core” Kinect game it hopes will win your hearts and minds.
Korea’s on the brink of war today, and many argue it’ll have an effect, whether positive or negative, on THQ’s latest game, Homefront. The publisher, however, sees things different, and it’s conclude the conflict won’t have an impact on the game.
EA has made it abundantly clear that they intend to retain the FPS crown which, the publisher claims was once their own. So it’s not surprising to learn that the giant was yearning to make a game based on one of the most controversial wars of our time.
Operation Shock-n-Awe.
THQ, the studio behind hack-n-slash title, Darksiders, has said that in the gaming industry, there’s no room for mediocre titles. I couldn’t agree more.
EA was the publisher that finally got married to Vince Zampella and Jason West’s new game development studio, Respawn Entertainment. But while the two men were “shopping around”, the had some very serious talks with THQ. And those talks were apparently fruitful.
That’s what Danny Bilson, the publisher’s VP of core games, told Industry Gamers recently.
THQ has just announced that Darksiders, the game that has been available for consoles for a very long time now, will be coming to PC on September 16th in the US and September 24th in the Europe.
There’s a lot to say about the situation of games and advertising, especially when considering where exactly should publishers spend their money. When it comes to TV advertising spots, though, THQ’s core games Vice President Danny Bilson thinks it’s a “waste of money”.
Red Faction is back! This time with a darker and grittier look than the last time. The game takes place on the planet of Mars in the year 2170, Darious Mason must battles a long-dormant evil race of aliens causing an Armageddon on Mars. The game will maintain the fully destructible environments from it’s predecessor, Red Faction: Guerilla. Red Faction Armageddon is due to be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows.
Gamers are a demanding crowd. Year after year developers work hard, harder than most other forms of entertainment to bring us what we want. For some reason we the gamers pay no mind to what goes on behind the scenes; all we’re interesting in is everything, and I mean everything being perfect. That’s a tall order considering how much effort, research, brainstorming and the likes that goes into making a great game.
But when last did we pause for a moment and really think about how much we take these developers for granted? And the thing is they never complain. Well I believe there’s a time for everything under the sun; and today I ask you to join me in saluting your favorite development team.
Do it after the read in the comments section but right now, we honor them:
