Game Developer’s Advice To Those Buying Next Xbox: “Be Sure To Always Pay Your ISP Bills”

Microsoft’s creative director Adam Orth has unleashed the fury of the internet by telling gamers who are concerned about the next Xbox needed an internet connection to play games to “deal with it”, and “get with the times”. Like clockwork, the news spread around the entire internet like a bonfire with infinite fuel. To top things off, another game developer has added even more credence to the always-online, always-connected Xbox by issuing a serious warning to gamers planning on buying Durango, which is the codename of the next Xbox.

The dev, who goes by the moniker Mr. Lake, after learning of Orth’s comments, said this on Evil Avatar’s forums:

Given that legally I cannot confirm or deny if this information is true, nor can I comment on rumor or speculation, all I can say is be sure to pay your ISP bills.

Add that to Kotaku’s sources who said that as recently as two weeks ago – and most probably still current – the next Xbox needed an internet connection to simply play games, and that if your connection is lost for more than three minutes, the game stops – whether you’re playing an online or single-player game, and goes straightway into troubleshooter mode.
