Microsoft has responded to rumors claiming that its next Xbox will require an internet connection to play games, with one of the firm’s executives basically telling gamers to deal with it.
Adam Orth, creative director at Microsoft Studios, took to twitter to settle the score, apparently, in what came off as disregard to gamers and their thoughts on the issue.
Here are the tweets:
Earlier today, Kotaku reported that its sources said that the next Xbox won’t play games unless it’s connected to the internet, and if peradventure your connection fails, the system would continue working for three minutes, and thereafter go into troubleshooting mode.
As for Adam Orth – as I’ve already stated, he is a creative director at Microsoft Studios. That makes him a very important person in the company’s chain of command, and there’s no doubt he’s involved, to some extent, in the development of the next Xbox and knows what’s going on inside Redmond. The mere fact that he’d come out and defend the impending console being always-connected to the internet is pretty telling.
An Xbox event is said to be taking place at the end of this month or early next. There, we’ll know what Microsoft’s been up to.
