Bayonetta 2 a Wii U exclusive – no, really!

Nintendo revealed that Bayonetta 2 is coming to the Wii U, and only it. Platinum Games, the developer behind the first title, is back for the sequel, with Nintendo publishing it. Atsushi Inaba of Okami is the producer, and Yusuke Hashimoto from the first Bayonetta is directing.

Unfortunately, we have no trailer at the moment, but we’ll share later. The only thing we have is Bayonetta’s pistol-boot, which is now blue.

    i guess those bayonetta 2 cancellation rumors were true. nintendo looked at as an opportunity to get an exclusive. they picked the project back up and now its published by nintendo. even though bayonetta to me sucks, smart move nintendo.

    It makes no sense to me. The original Bayonetta wasnt released on the Wii, so then why secure an exclusive sequel for a segment that never played the first? Nintendo is trying to hype the Wii U as a console for hardcore gamers,but releasing Bayonetta 2 doesnt really appeal to the family friendly nintendo audience…in my opinion.

    That’s why I also think it’s a weird move. The Nintendo audience will be the primary buyers of Wii U, and if they only had a Wii, they haven’t experienced the first game. Unless this is a prequel, it can’t work. It’s like Uncharted shifting to an Xbox exclusive – the audience would have huge question marks above their heads. And even if it’s a prequel, the story has to continue somehow, so the hole will still be there. I would prefer it if they made a totally new IP.

    not really because each iteration of uncharted is their own story you don’t have to play one to understand the other.

    But, there is a canon between each games. you’d miss the whole story behind everyone! And okay, let’s say Uncharted can somehow pull it off… God of War? Or inFamous? Or Killzone and Resistance? It just doesn’t make too much sense.

    but what i’m trying to say that using uncharted was bad example, the point of uncharted was that each game was it’s standalone story even the vita one is it’s own standalone story. if you wanted to use a example, god of war is perfect for what your trying to explain.

    The one on the Vita is actually a prequel of some sorts, and I’m playing it as we speak :P

    @narwall word of advice: when you sell a system you eventually want it back later down the line. i would know i been through it multiple times. its waste of money, just pack it up in its box if your not using it, until something good comes out for it.

    no idea why ninty decided to pick this up!
    will probably come back to bite them, bayonetta is not exactly a popular series.
    they would of been FAR better off sticking with the more popular, and more fun madworld!
