Mojang co-founder Markus Persson has leveled a scathing rebuke to Microsoft over its next operating system Windows 8.
This follows attacks on the upcoming OS from Valve’s Gabe Newell who called it a “catastrophe”, and Blizzard’s Executive Vice President of Game Design Rob Pardo, who echoed Newell’s words.
Persson told his followers that he “Got an email from Microsoft wanting to help ‘certify’ Minecraft for Windows 8. I told them to stop trying to ruin the PC as an open platform”.
That message has been tweeted over 1300 times.
Persson added that he would “rather have Minecraft not run on Windows 8 at all than to play along. Maybe we can convince a few people not to switch to Windows 8 that way”.
Microsoft has declined to comment on matters regarding Windows 8.
