Ubisoft Promises Not To Make Far Cry 3 A “Chore”

Ah yes, the endless driving on Far Cry’s deserted roads has always been a deal breaker me, because I simply don’t have the time or patience to be roaming around in a buggy hunting for tribesmen to kill. Thankfully Ubisoft has promised to make touring the Islands of Far Cry 3 fun, and not a “chore”.

That’s according to the game’s lead game designer Jamie Keen, who explained to OXM some of the fun things you can do with your vehicle, but also noted that one can still take to the roads and simply drive for hours without interruption. “Knock yourself out,” he said.

What we wanted to do with this one is we wanted to make driving a fun experience. We wanted it to feel like you can pull a handbrake turn round a corner and when you do it it is great and fun to do. You can just launch your vehicle at 70mph off a cliff – it might not do very well – but you can do that stuff.

We want travel not to become a chore. If you want to just travel across coastal roads for hours on end, by all means knock yourself out. We have fast travel points that let you move quickly around the world.

Far Cry 3 sees a release December 4th on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
