Medal Of Honor: Warfighter Reviews Go Live – Epic Fail

Medal Of Honor: Warfighter Reviews Go Live – Epic Fail

Medal of Honor: Warfighter reviews have started going live, including our own, and the general consensus is that Danger Close and EA made a mess out of the game, as it’ll go down in history as one of the lowest-scoring shooters this gen. Scores inside.

Games Thirst – 6/10

Eurogamer – 5/10

NowGamer – 6.5/10

Destructoid – 5/10

Polygon – 4.5/10

PSXExtreme – 6/10

I’m loving the campaign. It’s too bad the MP is so buggy because I really like it, more than the dried out COD play style. Once they fix the stat issue, spawn issue, and VoIP issue, I would easily give it a 8

  • rpatricky

At least they try something different. You gave MW3 a 10/10 and that’s a shame

@rpatricky: You know, I still stand by that. The game was exceptionally made. No, it didn’t do anything new, and I probably should have knocked it for that but I chose not to, considering the amount of things Infinity Ward was going through.

It’s still the best FPS single-player campaign I’ve played since last year. We all know Battlefield 3′s MP saved it.

And you said you’re enjoying the SP… you sure? Unless we have different games. I download the patch, so it must be the same. I’m always truthful in my opinions when I review a game, and MOH: Warfighter just does not measure up. It’s not even close.

  • rpatricky

I’m not knocking how you feel but I am enjoying the SP. I know your honest and I have stood up for that before. As the game stands now a 6 is fine but with a patch to fix MP I’m sure it will be better. The maps I’ve played are fun and fast

  • CaribbeanCLANK

Funny how certain FPS’s get high scores for doing the same crap over and over again while others get so much negative press for trying something new in a genre with so little inginuity.

military shooters in general are epic fails. the last good military shooters imo were COD4 & MW2. i actually bought the original MOH and that game sucked and judging from what i’ve seen MOHW doesn’t look to be any different besides the graphics. ewwwwwww look at the pretty graphics, look at that nice shiny frostbite 2 engine. screw that this game doesn’t even deserve to get reviewed. more shovelware if you ask me

  • rpatricky

I’m sure people are going to look at Black Ops 2 and say things like….wow! It’s in the future, so innovative. I’m itching to see what BO2 thinks it can do to up the ante. I don’t want it to fail (chances are I will get it eventually) but I can already see the HOST MIGRATION threads on the forums. If it wasn’t for 2 games in one, ie. zombies (still not original or innovative) I probably wouldn’t buy it. In conclusion, I say good for you Danger Close, for trying at least something a little different (because what more can be done in any FPS to make it original?)

  • Ghost250

@rpatricky im not knocking you opinion of the game. but for me though military shooters became irrelevant after MW2 imo.

  • rpatricky

@ghost. You are pretty much correct. What have we not seen from a military shooter? They can only tweak things here and there but when something a little different from the norm comes out it is ridiculed and if it stays the same it is ridiculed. I shouldn’t give a crap about reviews but people put a lot of stake in another person’s opinion. For every person that says it sucks there is a person that says it is great. I like it because I find it fun.

Im really disappointed with the review scores I’ve read. Expected better from Danger Close. The scores I have seen vary from 5-8/10. It seems like some hated it and some loved it. So far I am pleased…so far. Now I bet BLOPS2 will get 9s and 10s. People hate hard to follow stories that jump around and make no sense…unless COD is attached to the name. BLOPs was probably one of the worst SP stories I can remember and the MP was buggy and sucked donekyballs on PS3. Took them weeks to settle that mess. But it gained universal acclaim being a flawed piece of work. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but the COD riding must stop. Its ruining the FPS market! But I give every game a fair shot so I will be picking up my BLOPS2 copy. But I expect dated visuals a confusing a$$ story with time travel and good MP. I can look past the silly zombie stuff and see the game for what it really is. Excited to see what EG and the GT family feel about it! Once again, love the site and I am really disappointed with the reception Warfighter has gotten. Maybe EA will listen and bring us Bad Company 3!!!!!!

More reviews coming in. I’m putting them in now. Polygon went with 4.5/10, PSXExtreme went with 6/10.

Don’t know why, but I think it deserves at least a 7. The controls are a nice tweak to the regular formula, say the peak move for example. But I’m still early into it, and can’t activate my pass yet.

By the way, installing it on PC now, I hope it will be done by night. I’ll go make that platoon :D

I ran into that bug on the sniping mission where the RPG guys wont die…sad face.

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

See what I told you, Benzo? That game isn’t finished, man! Broken game. No way it deserves a 7. Not in my opinion.

  • http://www.starblindgames.com Christos Chatzisavvas

And this begs for the question: did Skyrim deserve GOTY and anything above 7, and did Bethesda deserve Dev OTY? ;)

Well the question was general, I’ve read that and I’m coming from the same side. That only goes to show how the industry is working in… let’s say, shadily mysterious ways. You got a grand game like Battlefield 3, that pushes everything in game design and features a campaign for the first time, scoring the same as a tried-and-true, formulaic shooter like Call of Duty * — which is fun, granted, but not on the same scale. Then you have virtually bugless games that score half or lower of what the bug-ridden mess that Skyrim has scored.

You are right EG. You know that I was really really looking forward to this game man. I tried and was shutdown sooooo early in the game with this stupid bug. Like I said, I really respect the opinions here on GT and know that there is little to no bias going on here. Just super disappointed with on of my top 3 anticipated games of 2012.
