Weekend Quencher 09/29/12 – Cha-Cha-Changes! Edition

Weekend Quencher 09/29/12 – Cha-Cha-Changes! Edition

Whether we choose to accept it or not, the world around us is changing at such a rapid pace that it’s sometimes hard to keep up. Yesterday’s technology is today’s old news, and what’s hot today will be overtaken before you can blink. Not many industries exemplify such forward movement like the games industry. We are all about change. It used to be cartridges and only single-player, now it’s Blu-ray and multiplayer’s importance has surpassed, by miles, that of the single-player experience. It’s true, all one has to do is check the stats.

In the near future it’ll be all about downloads, as the traditional way we purchase games is slowly but surely dying. I predict in the next ten years traditional retail outlets will fade if they don’t find innovative ideas moving forward, because one will not have to leave his house to purchase a game. And although that option is already available, internet speeds haven’t caught up, at least not in the U.S. and most parts of Europe.

But change is coming, and I believe it’s for the better. I’m looking forward to PS4 and the next Xbox – and even Wii U. I’m looking forward to the future, guys. I simply can’t wait for the new experiences headed our way because, if you didn’t notice, I like change!

Have a bright weekend, Games Thirst! What are you guys up to?

Today it’s all about meetings for me. A few over Skype and about two locally. Later I’ll go hunt me a good game although I have no clue what I’ll be looking for. Tomorrow I’ll do the usual – go to Church, have breakfast with my wife later that day, and relax thereafter.

What are you guys up to? Also, I’m starting to get active on twitter so follow me there, and subscribe to my Facebook page.

Thanks! Love you good people, man! Stay blessed!

Well for me I’m really looking forward to the next 3 weeks since I’m going to get a 50$ PSN card and buy LBP Vita and a PSP game for my Vita. Life is really hard over here since heat is crazy and school is hard. :C Frickin Physics and Chemistry, always the hardest subjects.

Also if anyone wants to buy PS Vita games for cheap prices, go to here: http://glyde.com/buy#!browse/by/ps_vita_games

@Grim: Must be hot in Saudi Arabia, I can imagine. And about school, never liked these subjects! I was more into English, Literature, Comprehension and the like. I also loved history, business and Geography. Thrived in Social Studies, too. I cheated my way through math, but I got by :D
    -
Hey, I’m being honest. It’s not a proud math record, but it’s true.
    -
And I think I turned out alright, by the grace of God!

  • TheGrimOfDeath

@ Ernice: Ahh man now I’m thinking in just a short few years if I cheat in college or University I’m going to be kicked out of there. :D I love Biology, Math, English and Business. Also you want to know how hot it is here in SA? 40-50 Celsius every day from April to October. :)

just counting the days until RE6 finally comes out.

    i absolutely HATED math!
i guess it did not help that my father, well, basically his whole family are bloody math nerds!
so id come home every day and he would be sitting next to me with the magnifying glass with the whip ready if i made .1 decimal mistake!
than i remember in year 9 our teacher left and her replacement was a old PE teacher so all he use to do was give us the answer sheets and we would study off that.
i remember in my finals the students hid the answer sheets in the toilets so everyone was constantly getting up to go to the toilet, but instead of doing what they thought we were memorising keys.
now those were the days, a math teacher who gave you the answer sheets and a english teacher who just let us watch cartoons all lesson!
dam, making me want to go back………..
sayings true, you really dont realise how good you have it till its taken away.
    :(

quiet weekend for me im trying to bury myself in RE6 hurry up and finish it, i might do a review on it later during the week see if i get enough time.
really want to get back into darksiders 2 i had just finished the first world so i was really interested to see how things changed before i left to move onto borderlands 2.
one thing i hate about this time of year, you just start to get into a game, you finally get into the rhythm and start enjoying yourself and another game drops!
yea i could ignore them, but if i did that i wouldent be playing them ever!
dunno why but ive always been obsessed with playing games on release.
playing even 1% of every one, over playing 100% of some and others just plain missing.
kinda wasteful when you think about it, but eh as the saying goes you cant teach a old dog new tricks.
besides that ill be trying to rest a little, ive been starting work at 2AM every day last week and did not get home till after 4PM, so its been a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG week!
have to do the same next week except friday, luckily got that off because of the expo.
going to be interesting to see how i go probably will end up snoring in the opening ceremony and getting myself kicked out.
    ;)
its funny how your body changes, i use to only get 4 hours of sleep if that a few years ago when i was doing my refrigeration apprentership.
    and i felt fine!
now though im getting 6 and every day im struggling to keep my eyes open, i mean now even its only 6PM, i woke up at 2PM yesterday and today and im struggling to keep my eyes open.
in fact RE6 has bored me so much i ended up falling asleep last night!
i ended up waking up to the death screen.

Nick, your dad was a serious man! LOL. But that’s good though, I’m sure he being strict helped you.
    -
And about RE6 – the consensus is that it’s really a great title~

  • nick

yup great just like RE5 was great.

  • Ghost250

“yup great just like RE5 was great” this is coming from the guy who thinks crysis is good.

  • nick

and that coming from the guy who would not know a good game if it smacked him in the face.

  • Ghost250

ummmm yeahhhh i recollect you saying that Haze was a good game. now if wouldn’t know a good game if it smacked me in the face, then you sure as heck wouldn’t know either.

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

    :D

  • nick

no, i said it did things allot better than most games its varying gameplay for instance the switch teams mid way through and the total change of tactics for instance.
or the story was actually pretty good.
