Tomb Raider Goes Gold

Tomb_Raider_

Tomb Raider has gone gold, folks. Meaning the game will surely hit store shelves come March 5th.

Darrell Gallagher, Studio boss of Crystal Dynamics, shared this message on Facebook:

It’s been a long journey, and it feels like we’ve been on this one together. Thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support since we first revealed our new vision for Tomb Raider to the world. I am very happy to let you know that we are into the final stretch of what has been an exciting and challenging adventure for the last few years. Tomb Raider has ‘gone gold’ and is now en route to manufacturing ahead of the game’s official release on March 5th, so there isn’t too long before it will be in your hands.

Back in 2010 when we announced Tomb Raider we promised to break new ground for the franchise – to create an origins story that forges Lara Croft into a hero, and takes her on a journey like no other. I’m very happy that I can stand by those words today.

We’ve put everything into this game, and I’m certain we’ve created something that explores Tomb Raider’s history while pushing the limits in interactive storytelling and design. Development has spanned two studios, a pair of E3 stage demos, 50-plus magazine covers, 150 award nominations, nearly 800 fan art submissions, almost 2,000 blog posts, and over 50,000 replies from you on our forums.

And now it’s time to get the game into your hands. We sincerely hope you enjoy it. We think you will, We are immensely proud of this game.

28 days to go.

@ernice all i have been able to get from all these new square games is that they look pretty. i mean sure at first i was interested. but i find myself just losing interest in any game that square makes or publishes. except dues ex: HR. that game was really good, plus i probably wont have time to play this game anyways with god of war & bioshock coming out in the same month. an its not like i was really a big tomb raider fan anyways.

Understood. Yeah, God of War: Ascension will eat up many a PS3 owner come March… And Bioshock around the same time…Yeah, that’s wild. But I do hope it sells well. I’m an old fan. Especially Tomb Raider 2. Loved that game!

but on a serious note sqaure needs to release Versus already. im sick of them releasing all these western styled games and stupid FF games with lighting.

Latest rumor said it’ll be on PS4 in 2014.http://www.gamesthirst.com/2013/02/05/rumor-final-fantasy-versus-13-a-ps4-exclusive-releasing-in-2014/

On Square, they recently said they weren’t making profits off of their console games. I wonder why…

  8. nick February 8, 2013 at 10:12 am -

not that there not making a profit, that there not making as much money as they are on mobiles.
which is obvious, it costs such a fraction of the costs to develop on consoles and each of their IOS titles are like 18 bucks!
everyone else sells their games for 10 max!
if they were not making more money on mobiles thered be a serious problem!
