Wii U Sells Over 400,000 In First Week

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has made known that Wii U sold over 400,000 units in its first week on sale.

Speaking to CNET, Reggie said, “Wii U is essentially sold out of retail and we are doing our best to continually replenish stock. Retailers are also doing their best to get the product to store shelves. But as soon as product hits retail, they’re selling out immediately.”

Although the console sold exceptionally well, and retailers are finding it hard to keep the new machine in stock, Wii sold 600,000 units in its first eight days on the market, however Reggie didn’t expect there to be Wii-like shortages facing Wii U.

“Wii was a unique phenomenon,” he said. “You couldn’t walk into a retailer and buy a Wii until spring of 2009. We’ve certainly learned many lessons from that and we are replenishing retailers more quickly this time around. We are looking to have as much product into retail as possible. It’s driven by consumer response.”

Reggie told CNN over the weekend that Black Ops 2 looks “dramatically better” on Wii U than it does on PS3 and Xbox 360.

does this guy ever listen to the shit he spews?
right, so were suppose to believe that its sold out of stores, AND has had a larger first shipment, and more frequent and larger replenishment systems than the wii.
yet its still sold 200000 units less.
    hows that possible?
if its sold out, and has had more units available, than shouldent it be selling more?
christ, i know tretton talks some shit, and M$ are not exactly angels, but NO ONE spews more shit than you reggie!
    i smell BS!
50 bucks says they have not had many replenishments at all, which wouldent surprise me considering the above, plus the rumored preorder limits, plus the fact that they wont sell the gamepad separately stating we would run out of gamepads to put with systems.
sorry regie, but we were not born yesterday!
