In The UK, Demon’s Souls Is King

by Ernice Gilbert on August 5th, 2010, under Hot, Namco Bandai, News

Remember that PS3 exclusive title that wasn’t supposed to have done well, but yet ended up selling out in the US? Yes, Demon’s Souls. After its success in the US, Sony couldn’t resist taking the game to Europe,, and so they did.

Guess what happened?

The game continued to rock the boat in the UK, selling out. Completely.

This according to Namco PR manager Lee Kirton, speaking to Eurogamer. The game’s considered an “amazing success” in the UK.

“I can’t give you a number, but what I mean by an ‘amazing success’ is that all the stock we built of the Black Phantom Edition has sold out.

For a game that’s been out a long time overseas we believe it to be a success. Reviews scores and coverage have been amazing.”

He admitted: “We haven’t done hundreds of thousands of units, but we’ve been pleased.”

Indeed. Although the game’s not one of the easiest to beat, it’s indeed a good title. Nothing like it out there.

The Black Phantom Edition was released on June 25th in the UK for £44.99. In it, an art book, soundtrack CD and strategy guide. Demon’s Souls standard edition will be released this Friday, August 6th, for £34.99.

wow, its been out here for a while and its only sold maybe 5 copies!
i really cant see the appeal in this, i mean i rented it a few weeks ago to see what all the fuss is about and i dont think i have swore so much in the space of 30 minutes in my entire life!
games are suppose to be fun, not rage educing, hair taring, throat scorching, head throbbing torture!

Man, sometimes, a good, hard challenge is good.

nah, i dont have the Patience for this!
a friend of mine got it so i grabbed it with him, played online with him for a bit than we both got fed up and took them back.
your just constantly stuck doing the same things over and over again.
i dont get much time to play games as it is, so the least thing i want to be doing is replaying the crap i was doing the previous night!

Yeah, but don’t you believe in games giving a good challenge? Surely, you remember the early days…..

yea, but theres a difference between a good challenge and deamon souls.
games of old were hard, but they were stright forward in what you needed too do.
in deamon souls you have no idea if what your trying to do is actually possible yet!
me and my mate spent like 2 hours trying to finish a part, than figured out we did not have the stats required to do so.
its far too unforgiving, it throws you in with no info what so ever your on your own literally!
i love a good challenge, ninja gaiden for example that games effing hard!
deamon souls is a whole different type of hard.
