Dead Island Riptide details made public

Apart from the name, we knew nothing about Techland’s next entry in the Dead Island franchise, until today. Today, in a press release, some sweet new details about the game have been revealed.

“Having survived the ordeals of the zombie infestation on the once beautiful island resort of Banoi, our group of survivors thought they had finally found a safe place to escape from this terrifying nightmare. But they were wrong. Shortly after the battle-hardened team had landed their helicopter on a military ship, a furious storm hits and havoc quickly spreads on board. Suddenly they find themselves struggling for their lives again with all hope drowning in the rising waves.”

“A monsoon has hit the once beautiful archipelago and heavy rainstorms have laid waste to large areas of the islands. The city of Henderson and jungle areas on the island of Palanai were flooded leaving boats as the only remaining way of transportation,

In addition, Techland will add a fifth character with an “all-new and unique skillset.” There will also be new zombie mutations, dynamic weather conditions, co-op communication features, and “hub defense missions” where the survivors will have to “strategically place traps, fences and turrets to fend off oncoming Zombie onslaughts and to protect the humans in these sanctuaries.” Essentially, the “hub defence missions” sound like a horde mode.

The game is due out in 2013, for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

all i request is please for the love of god can we have missions that are not fetch quests!
exactly why i sold dead island, it bored the hell out of me!
go grab this, go grab that, jesus tap dancing christ it gave the word repetition a whole new extreme!
oh and of course remove the weapon breaking system!
whole fun and point of that game is to have a ball ripping zombies to shreds!
so why would you make the weapons easily breakable and especially make them so god dam expensive to fix!?
i found myself constantly spamming kick because i did not want to dammage my weapons.
kinda defeats the whole purpose if your waking around the world kicking zombies……….

Weapons are too mainstream, I punch those brain-munching freaks to death. You can call me a hipster.

wheres the fun in that though?
whole fun of the game was slicing them to bits!
its like having dead rising without all the cool creative weapons!
