Miyamoto takes a shot at Sony’s Vita

Nintendo’s creative visionary says that the powerful Sony handheld isn’t “a very strong product.”

While Miyamoto isn’t known weighing in on his competitors, he definitely seems to have a low opinion of the Vita in a new interview with EDGE magazine.

When asked his opinion of the Vita, he commented, “It’s obviously a very high-spec machine and you can do lots of things with it, but I don’t really see the combination of software and hardware that really makes a very strong product.”

He added, “But I can’t really say.”

However, he also acknowledged Nintendo’s own mistakes in the launch of its 3DS handheld. Miyamoto said, “When we launched the 3DS hardware we didn’t have Super Mario 3D Land, we didn’t have Mario Kart 7, we didn’t have Kid Icarus: Uprising. We were striving to have all of these ready for the launch, but we weren’t able to deliver them at that time.”

exactly the problem $ony is having.
you can afford to release a flawed device, at a ridiculous high price tag, if you have the software to back it up!
but they dont.
out of every vita game already announced only 4 id be interested are killzone, AC, golden abyss and bioshock.
and 2 of those will probably end up being ports of their ps3 versions so now its only 2.
pretty pathetic 12 month line up for a device that has been out for 4 years!
but for a device thats in its first year?

PS Vita will rise. Just wait to Black Ops II and Monster Hunter land on the console.

Miyamoto speaks the truth. The starting line up was a little soft for Vita. Golden Abyss was the jewel,but Unit 13 was a good game as well. I agree with EG,once the heavy hitter start coming Vita will be just fine. People seem to forge that Burning Skies drops this month. Thats an exciting game that will not be a port. And Nick….not sure the Vita is flawed sir. The hardware is fresh with tons of potential. About 95% of reviews for the hardware gave the Vita stellar marks,including Miyamoto…

well what else would you call 1 psn account per device, 1 psn account per memory card, no pause game ability like the go had, no web browsing while games are open like every other device these days can do, and overpriced accessories?
as i said once it gets its titles it will be fine, but thats exactly the problem.
WHEN it gets its titles!
whats the point buying a device and having it sitting there while you wait for a reason to use it?
unit 13 was pretty crappy, and resistance looks the same.
the manager at my local EB actually told me to cancel my preorder the other day it was that bad!
and shes a bigger resistance fan than me!

I call most of that stuff defense against hacking. And sounds like with the other things you want to play with a smartphone…and nothing in the world has more overpriced accessories than an Iphone. Unit 13 and Burning Skies does not look the same. Different companies, different concepts, different modes, different games. Does that EB manger have a Vita, and has she played Burning Skies? Everything…yes EVERYTHING Ive read about Burning Skies is good stuff. But as your idpic says..Sony you Suck! So why should I expect anything but you droppin deuces on Sony. But check it, I buy your Vita off you for $100 since its such crap….

i don’t know what miyamoto is talking about their launch line-up when the line-up for the 3ds was garbage, just like the vitas line-up. the only reason he’s spouting out this garbage is because when the vita starts picking up steam in the game department its gonna be hard for them to compete tbh. nintendo knows this, i’m sorry but as i’ve seen this generation only people are just flat out tired of nintendo feeding people the same crap over and over, along their crap gimmicks.
