Rage Is Arguably The Best Looking Game Out There – John Carmack

by Ernice Gilbert on August 14th, 2011, under Bethesda, FPS, Hot, News, PC, PS3, Xbox 360

The RAGE bragging has commenced. Forget Crysis 2, Killzone 3, Battlefield 3 and anything else you’ve seen on the market, because when RAGE comes out in October, it’ll obliterate them all in the visual department.

That’s what the legendary developer’s boss, John Carmack told Unwinnable in a recent interview, adding the game’s frame-rate, at 60FPS, is twice that of the competitors.

“Rage is arguably the best-looking thing out there,” Carmack told the site, “but my personal point of pride is that it runs at twice the frame rate of almost all our competitors’. It is a 60-frame-per-second (FPS) game that looks like nothing anyone has seen before.”

“I had the opportunity with this generation to push the graphics in artistic directions that could have been somewhat more exotic than what we chose here, but it would have been at the expense of being a 30 FPS game.

I made the early decision that, if we pick this technical direction, we could have this environment that looks incredibly awesome, but can be done at 60 frames per second.”

Thanks, Gamingbolt.

detail wise im sure it is, but where RAGE falls down is where every other shooter falls down.
grey, brown, and a little more brown!
what, did i miss the meeting where it was agreed that shooters are not allowed to have any bright colours in them?
ok its a post apocalyptic world, but since when does that mean everything has to be brown?
why cant we have more games like bulletstorm?
looks fantastic in its own right, especially on the PC the texture detail is amazing!
yet its nice and bright and colourful!
who said having fantastic graphics meant your game had to be as dull as dishwater?

what happened to the colourful shooters of old?
not asking for halo, but come on a little variety in the colour pate wont kill them!
