DICE has sent the hype train for Battlefield 3 into full throttle and there’s no turning back. The developer’s been showing off the game on PC, and has admitted some console gamers might be disappointed when they see how it looks on Xbox 360 and PS3, all while maintaining it might turn out to be the best looking game on console. Still, the studio’s ready for change, with its executive producer Patrick Bach contending that they’re ready for the new rounds of console if they were to show up today or tomorrow.
That’s what the exec said while speaking to CVG, adding they rather prove than talk.
“I don’t know what the big corporations are thinking but definitely we are desperate to move on into the next generation. I think Battlefield 3 will look like a next-generation game and all the technology we’re building, the whole Frostbite 2 system – the animations, audio, everything – is trying to aim for a couple of years in the future, rather than looking at what we have today.
We are already there. If [Microsoft or Sony] were to release a new console tomorrow, the engine would scale onto that platform, because we have been looking at not only the PC technology today but also speculating what will happen tomorrow when it comes to these things. So everything from our streaming technologies [to] rendering technologies is scalable onto future platforms.”

definitely am!
im sick of PC games getting held back by ancient console hardware!
So you’re ready to dish out another $1000?
not 1K, they would be insane to charge that for new hardware!
especially in this economy!
700, 800 yea but i cant see them being more then that.
i wont be buying one for a while though, cant afford it.
i just want new consoles, so PC games can finally stop being crappy console ports!
the smaller the gap between the 2 the better!
What I mean is the combined cost of the console, games, and a few accessories. Surely you’ll want to buy some games for your new beast.
of course, no point buying a new system without anything to use with it.
i wont be buying one for a while though, only reason i want new consoles is so we can see PC games being less of crappy console ports!
yea they will still be console ports, but since consoles are more powerful will finally see PC games better then crysis a 5 year old game!
look how far 360 games have come in 5 years.
look how far ps3 games have come in 5 years.
look how far PSP games have come in 5 years.
hell, look how far phone games have come in 5 years!
PC games have barely budged!
