Splitscreen MP Co-op Makes Triumphant Return In Resistance 3

by Ernice Gilbert on March 21st, 2011, under Hot, News, PS3, Sony

Hey Games Thirst community, how would you like to join me in an online match taking on some aliens as we trod through a game’s story mode, in an effort to save planet earth? You would? Nice. Because in Resistance 3, MP co-op is a go!

That’s according to James Stevenson, a Senior Community Manager for Insomniac Games at Burbank California, letting the news loose via the Insomniac’s forums.

A community member said, and I’m quoting verbatim, “if you TRULY want as many ppl to enjoy this game as possible… you should confirm splitscreen multiplayer so i can play with my buddy next to me! He’s got a 360 but we loved playing R2 splitscreen multiplayer both co-op and competitive and he even created an account on my PS3 and PSN to track his stats! I REALLY want R3 to not lose this…”

To this, Stevenson’s response was: “yeah, it’s going to be a late add. We will have dual split-screen log-in, though it probably won’t be something you can play until the final version of the game ships (ie, not in the beta)”

I know many Resistance fans, and fans of online co-op alike will appreciate this news.

Thanks, Gamereactor.
