EA has just confirmed that it’s laid off employees from its array of businesses, as it aligns “all elements of its organizational structure behind priorities in new technologies and mobile.”
At last count, EA employed 9,000 people, so if the company truly made redundant 2,000 workers, that’s over 20 percent of its workforce.
In recent weeks, EA has aligned all elements of its organizational structure behind priorities in new technologies and mobile. This has led to some difficult decisions to reduce the workforce in some locations. We are extremely grateful for the contributions made by each of our employees ā those that are leaving EA will be missed by their colleagues and friends.
These are hard but essential changes as we focus on delivering great games and showing players around the world why to spend their time with us.
Just hours ago GameInformer’s sources said that EA Partners, EA’s long-standing consulting business that was responsible for great hits like the original Crysis and Battlefield from DICE before EA bought the latter studio, had been shuttered.
We wish all the best to those affected.
