Thirsty Conversations: With the Wii U coming out this month, do you think it’s worth getting?

Nintendo’s Wii U is releasing this month on November 18th for NA and November 30th for EU and AU. Nintendo has shown us that the Wii U is going to be a pretty powerful console capable of full 1080p HD on that rather large Wii U Gamepad and the ability to stream the game onto the controller with technically zero lag.

Also with so many games releasing for the Wii U both exclusive and on other consoles, it seems like Nintendo might have overdone themselves and might become very stiff competition for both the PS3 and XBox 360. I mean Black Ops 2, Assassin’s Creed, Zombie U and so many more games that are coming out on the release date of the console. Plus the games that are already out on other consoles with get new features on the Wii U since the second screen on the Wii U Gamepad is causing developers to craft very nifty things for the games.

Nintendo has also announced that the Wii U will be sold for a loss and that only software will help them get profits for the console, and If I may say they are doing a pretty good job on developing the software for the Wii U. It’s just that all those games, anyone of all ages will have the possibility to find a game they want. Whether it be Call Of Duty Black Ops 2 for a young adult or New Super Mario Bros. U for the children.

So what I’m trying to say, does it look like the Wii U is going to be worth getting? What about for people who already have consoles?

Let’s talk. Do it here: The Official Games Thirst Dilemma.

I think a lot of folks will indeed buy Wii U, but not the hardcore. I don’t think the console is, well, “hardcore” enough. And after leaving its legions of fans in the cold with Wii, I don’t think the hardcore will go back. At least not that easy.
That’s just my opinion, though. I could be wrong.

dude, its got all the core multiplayer games releasing for it how more core can it get!?
only thing ninty could do to make it more core is release their own GOW, which will never happen!
biggest problem with the wiiu is exactly the same problem every system has.
they have SO much available on launch, but 99% of it has been out for weeks if not months!
only 1 first party title for launch, and acording to few reviews already out its the same as every other mario game.
    ninty made a BIG mistake!
they should of released super mario galaxy 3 as a launch title, they could of done so much more with that, and thus really supplied the must have game for the system!
as it stands there are ZERO must have reasons to buy the wiiu!
and that is really going to hurt ninty.
most will wait till zelda and other ninty mascots appear, but by then ninty will probably be forced to drop the systems price due to lack of sales.
you can NEVER have enough games for launch, thats just how it is, so you really need to put your strongest foot forward.
and ninty hasent, they have put out a wii game with updated visuals.
sorry ninty, but that really does not stand up to a launch title!
if they had donkey kong, or super mario galaxy 3, or even metroid, the wiiu would of been fine!
but they dont, they have the weakest, oldest, most milked game out there!
its really going to struggle with the weight of a 450 dollar console on its back!
ill be getting the wiiu simply because im a tech head and am so excited to see whats in it!
and because i SO want zombie u to be the return to survival horror we need!
but sadly this is the worst launch a system has received since the ps3 launched!

Although I do agree with you Nick, aren’t you happy that the console will get some older games that will have more functionality on the Wii U? And that beautiful 1080p screen on the Wii U controller.

@grim dude that screen is not 1080p its 480p.

    not really no.
all the MP games coming to the wiiU are flat ports, there really not going to have much tailored to the system.
gamepad functionality really is not reason enough to buy them again and play them again, especially in a market where theres so many new games to play.
