Dead Space Dev Who Criticized Gears Of War Story Now Backpedaling

gears3new

Last week, Dead Space producer Chuck Beaver gave a scathing review of Epic Games’ Gears Of War, mainly its story, saying the game’s plot “contains atrocious, offensive violations of story basics. Yet it doesn’t seem to ruin it for many, many people. It’s literally the worst writing in games, but seems to have no ill effects.”

He’s since then quickly backpedaled after facing some industry backlash.

“I just wanted to jump in and clarify some of my comments that were taken out of context about Gears of War. First, let me say that I’m a huge fan. It is an epic franchise that has trail-blazed more than a few industry-leading player experiences and mechanics. It is deservedly recognized as a top-tier title,” Beaver’s told IGN.

“Its success as a property is evidenced by its giant sales and rabid fan base. The industry is far better for Epic’s contributions, and we all owe a great deal of inspiration to their work.”

Lesson learned: Don’t go trash-talking a mega games franchise, especially when you’re part of the development community.

and that “clarifies” your comments how?
sorry dude but thats the worst excuse for backtracking your words because they got you into trouble i have ever heard!
hes right though he should stand by what he said because the writing in gears is atrocious!
but thats besides the point, going to gears for its writing and story is like buying a track day car for its practicality.
