Activision’s announced Call of Duty: XP, a spanking new event similar to Blizzard’s Blizzcon that will be introduced with a massive event in L.A.
At the show, Modern Warfare 3′s multiplayer will be fully revealed, and so will be the “full feature functionalty” of Call of Duty: Elite, and to kick off things in grand style, a $1 million multiplayer Black Ops tournament sponsored by Activision and Xbox 360 will take place.
“This is a pure experience to give back to the Call of Duty fan community,” Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg told Joystiq. “It is completely focused on Call of Duty.”
Hirshberg admitted, however, that they took advise from Blizzard as to how to run a successful event like this, as they’ve been doing Blizzcon for a very long time.
“We’ve learned everything we could from Blizzard with their experience with BlizzCon. They were very helpful giving us some of the cheat sheet and learnings from past experiences.”
Tickets for the event costs $150, with over 6,000 people expected to show up. All proceeds from the show will go to the Call of Duty Endowment.
Tickets go on sale on July 19th, the event itself commences on September 2nd and runs till the 3rd. Also, if you’re not able to attend, don’t worry, as there’ll be live coverage via Facebook and YouTube. There’s more on the event’s website.
