Next Call Of Duty Title Will “Reset The Bar” For FPS Genre

by Ernice Gilbert on May 10th, 2011, under Activision/Bilzzard, Hot, News

While EA’s been busy talking up Battlefield 3, going as far as calling it superior to Call of Duty, Activision’s been quietly helming the next COD game, one it says will once again lead the way in immersion, and set a new standard for the franchise…and possibly industry on a whole.

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg told investors that he expects “this year’s game will set a new standard in the franchise.”

“The creative excellence and sheer scale of the game we are making, and the unprecedented online universe that will accompany it will re-set the bar for this genre, giving players a new level of immersion, connectivity, community and of course epic action. The game to date has exceeded every internal milestone and we look forward to sharing it with you soon.”

Hirshberg added that they were saving up on cash to make the game the best possible it can be, and to “take the experience to an entirely new level.”

Meanwhile, EA’s planning to spend tens of millions of dollars on Battlefield 3 advertising in an effort to make it a “household name”.

Thanks, VGW.

We are like how Battlefield 3 looks, but none of us has seen the next COD game…..I’ll wait before casting judgement. I mean, you’d think Activision would up its game after seeing what DICE and EA showed, right? I’m sure they have.

    yes, they would!
anti dont give a crap about the competition, they know they can release the same crap over and over and over and over again and it would sell millions!
why go to the moon and back when you can go to the end of the street and get the same results?
if COD was stale, sales were slowing, then ok i could see them trying something drastic to re ignite sales.
but theres a wave at the moment, there going to ride the wave until it stops then they will push it further.
i just cant see that wave stopping anytime soon!
