Is Kratos Alive Or Dead? Not Even The Game’s Director Knows

You’d think that God of War III Director, Stig Asmussen would know if the game’s main character, Kratos, was dead or alive since it was his team who crafted the game’s story. Well that’s not the case. Not even he knows what the hec is going on with Kratos.

Spoiler Alert! Read on at your own risk
:

“The way God of War III ends, you’re not really sure whether he’s alive or dead,” he told Gamepro Magazine. “He’s such a powerful character, and people really relate to or want to relate to him for some reason.

“I would love to continue work on God of War stuff, but I feel like we need to take a breather. That’s a big reason it was written with Kratos killing himself at the end.

That’s also why we put it in the epilogue – it leaves that little bit of tension about whether he’s dead or alive.”

He continued: “I don’t know if Kratos is dead or alive right now – maybe he is dead and that’s it. We kept the Blade of Olympus around, and we’ve got ideas of things we could do with that. Maybe there are powers contained withing the Blade of Olympus; maybe there’s a little piece of Kratos that’s still inside there.

There are a couple of different tools we could use, and there’s definitely room to expand other things.”

So would you rather Kratos be dead or alive? share your thoughts.

id say alive, if you watch closely the video at the end after the credits you can see a trail of blood leading to the edge. than just as it fades out you can hear a evil laugh.
it looks like kratos dragged himself off the cliff.
but i wonder what happened to athena.
i wont be surprised if we see GOW4 after GOS releases.
hopefully this time they focus more on the platforming , story and puzzles the things that made GOW a legend and less on ripping enemies apart.
GOW3 was by far the worst in the series, even worse than chains of Olympus.
it focused way to much on anger and ripping things apart, it had way to much combat and no where near enough platforming or puzzles.
and what puzzles there was they were extremely small in comparison to 1 or 2 even CoO.
normally GOW puzzles carry across several rooms, move a block to access this room, move a block to access that room, move a block to access that room.
GOW3s puzzles were way to small and simple.
just move this block there and wallah your done!
come on what happened to the brutality of god of war???
honestly remove kratos and you would not even know its a GOW game thats how different and uninspiring it is :(

Yeah, apparently Stig Asmussen toned down the game’s puzzle.

And as you said that what made it great in the first place!

Or at least one of the many things that made it great!

in all the interviews i read he makes it sound that thats a good thing.
no offense to stig, hes a great level designer but i dont think he was quite ready to be a game producer just yet.
he changed so many things with GOW3 and change is suppose to make things better, not worse.
if your going to change a game your suppose to remove the bad things, not remove the good things.
they focused so much on graphics zipper tech and the titans that they forgot about the most important part of any game. the gameplay!!!!

Indeed. I won’t argue with you there.
