In Japan, “Arc” Is Now Officially Sony’s

First we called it the Wand, then leaks revealed Sony intended to name its motion device “Arc”. Not too longer after, the giant came out and said that “Arc” was only a code name and soon we would know. But what do you know? Sony has now registered a trademark in Japan, that trademark is… you guessed it: “Arc”.

We’ve just learnt from a tweet sent out by Geoff Keighley, that the PS3 motion controller is not officially named “Arc” and that it’s just a codename being used.
Original story: A few months ago, THQ declared its support for Microsoft’s Project Natal and now, the company has announced plans to support the PS3 motion controller.

Sony has been on a role lately, first the company has been talking high about its profits made in the third quarter mostly from strong PlayStation 3 sales, and they also had good things to say about the “Arc” Controller and how it’ll be supported with a decent amount of games at launch.

It almost seemed impossible that Sony would be able to release its Motion Controller this spring as Kaz Hirai said last year, especially when you take into consideration all else the company has going on with the PS3 at the moment. Including the system’s stellar lineup in said season and the fact that the giant might want to add more games to the motion controller’s roster, not surprising.
