Games Thirst – Amazing Life
This week in gaming has been unlike any other in terms of next-gen console specs comparison. First we had Xbox people like Albert Penello and Major Nelson trying hard to downplay PlayStation 4′s power against Xbox One, later we had Mark Cerny and Jack Tretton of Sony proclaiming PS4 as the most powerful games console ever made, and only yesterday, Edge-Online published an article, citing anonymous developer sources, who claimed not only is PS4 50 percent more powerful than Xbox One, the console is also much easier to developer for. The article goes on to say that Xbox One has “horrible” graphics drivers, and that its ESRAM is a “pain to use”.
Microsoft, for its part, released the best response possible, stating that, in the end, they’ll let the games and consoles speak for themselves. A good response.
Still, the power struggle continues — yet the real question is, do you even care? I certainly do! Let’s say PS4 runs Battlefield 4 at 1080p and 60fps, but Xbox One’s version only manages 720p at 60fps, that extra polygon count definitely means a lot to me. It also means the game may run better in other ways, but that’s just me!
Maybe you don’t really care about the power struggle. Maybe you only care about playing videogames. And if that’s you, I couldn’t agree more. Choose your console of choice, folks. Go where you friends are and where the games you love can be played.
For me, in general, that’s always been PlayStation. For you, however, it may be Xbox.
