Metal Gear Solid: Legacy Collection Isn’t Coming To Xbox 360 Because It’s Too Big

Metal Gear Solid, in the 90s, has mostly been associated with the PlayStation brand, and to close this generation with a bang, Hideo Kojima and Konami are releasing the Legacy Collection, which includes an array of Metal Gear Solid titles. That collection is only coming to PS3, and although Kojima wouldn’t mind making it available on the Xbox 360, he says the collection’s just too big for the system. In essence, Xbox 360 cannot handle the Legacy Collection.

That’s what Kojima revealed in a recent interview with a Japanese online radio show. He said:

I’m sorry to say an Xbox 360 version isn’t being released, because an Xbox 360 version of MGS4 hasn’t gone on sale. To explain the situation, the amount of data in MGS4 is just too enormous.

I want to put it [presumably, The Legacy Collection] out [on the Xbox 360]. But we won’t be releasing it. When it’s the next [Xbox] console, maybe we can release it [again, presumably, The Legacy Collection]. If we released a version on the Xbox 360 without MGS4, then it’s not The Legacy Collection.

So all hope isn’t lost, then. Hmm? Maybe when the next Xbox comes about Konami will release the package. Maybe.
