Leaked Mass Effect 3 ‘From Ashes’ DLC wasn’t developed alongside the game, franchise executive producer Casey Hudson has revealed after fans raged about paying for content that should be part of the game.
“It takes about 3 months from ‘content complete’ to bug-fix, certify, manufacture, and ship game discs. In that time we work on DLC,” Hudson said via twitter.
“DLC has fast [certification] and no [manufacturing], so if a team works very hard, they can get a DLC done in time to enjoy it with your 1st playthrough on day one. On ME3, content creators completed the game in January and moved onto the ‘From Ashes’ DLC, free with the [Collector's Edition] or you can buy separately.”
Hudson came out to refute claims made by fans that From Ashes should be part of the game and not day one DLC. What do you guys think about it the trouble?

I think it should be day one free dlc, but it does not matter to me because I am getting the CE. We are already paying a crap load for these games and it just feels like them spitting in the face of the consumer saying, hey there is this cool new character that could reveal stuff about the story, but unless you bought the CE, you need to pay $10 for it. The dlc will probably only last 20min. and for $10 that is not enough play time. The best DLC I have ever purchased is for borderlands (other than Mad Moxxi’s which was good but no as good as the other dlc). I paid $10 for that dlc and it offered what felt like a new game. I probably put another 50 hrs into the game because of the dlc.
not fair for it to be free, the developers took their time to make the content when they could be taking a holiday!
if the DLC is free, then the whole game should be free!
whether it was content stripped from the game to charge as DLC or not no one except bioware will ever know.
if it is then shame on them, if not then im more then happy to shell out for something the developers have been sweating over.
Developers should be careful with this.
