Rumor Water: NGP Specs Downgraded To Compete With 3DS

by Ernice Gilbert on May 27th, 2011, under Hot, News, Sony

Apparently Sony’s cut in half the amount of RAM that will come ready in the base version of its upcoming handheld NGP, in an effort to compete with the likes of 3DS.

That’s according to a rumor from 01net, as translated by Industry Gamers.

The version of the NGP without 3G connectivity is said to have had its RAM reduced from 512MB to measly 256MB.

Also, the 16GB internal flash memory that was previously rumored has been dumped in favor for an external system much like that of PSP.

It’s still a rumor, so drink this water sparingly. We’ll know for sure come E3.

what happened to the old sony who always went hell for leather?
theres no freaking way will be playing ps3 games on it with those specs!
    no inbuilt memory?
then whats the point of it being a handheld?
might as well just release a ps3 with a screen on it and a battery!
and here i was thinking sony had stopped being so tight a$$ed for once!
sorry chooks, back in the hatch.

That old Sony who went “hell for leather” got dissuaded from people like you….I don’t understand. When they produce high-end products you say they’re too expensive, and when they decide to go it cheap, you still cry….

where did i say there too expensive?
    i bought a launch 60GB ps3 which was 1000 bucks!
i wanted them to keep the original dual HDMI design.
