Expect Massive Update Once PSN Is Back Online Says Sony, Cross Game Chat And Video Chat Hinted At

by Ernice Gilbert on April 27th, 2011, under Hot, News, PS3, PSN, Sony

Sony’s suffered its most damaging blow ever when it announced last night that the PlayStation Network had been severely breached, and that all users information, including credit card info were at risk. So the company’s rebuilding the network from the ground up to make it impenetrable, but apart from that, a representative said to expect a massive update once PSN gets back online, and the features that will be implemented will certainly make many a disgruntled customer happy.

Responding to a a user who goes by the alias TheGordonShumway, who was giving Sony advice on how they should reopen PSN by discounting PS Plus, allowing PayPal accounts etc., a Sony rep said:

“As we are rebuilding the network, we are taking into consideration implementing features such as cross-game-chat and in-game video chat to name a few. I cannot confirm any new features at this time but expect a massive update when the network is restored.”

If true, this might be just what Sony needs to at least begin the process of redeeming itself. This is big stuff.

This is kind of what I expected for Sony to do. If they know that the network will be down for a while, work on improving it with features. I hope it does have some great new features.
