Games Thirst – Amazing Life
The inevitable has seemingly happened. According to a blog post written by a Japanese Sony Shop employee, production of the PSPgo has ceased, and Sony’s now refusing to comment on the matter.
The device is now listed on the firm’s Japanese store as unavailable for purchase, as pointed out by the blog post, translated by Andriasang.
Meanwhile, Eurogamer tried reaching out to Sony, and the response they received was rather inconclusive, but gave hints of the rumor being true.
Said Sony: “It is a very exciting time for PlayStation portable devices. Before the end of the year we are launching NGP, our next generation portable device, which we believe will revolutionise portable gaming. In the meantime, the current generation of PSPs continue to be in demand, especially since the introduction of our value for money, Essentials range of games and we will continue to meet that demand.”
PSPgo hasn’t been popular amongst gamers. In fact, it’s Sony’s list popular gaming device in the company’s history, and the PSP 3000 continuously outsells the download-only little machine. Sony’s also set to release NGP, it’s latest and greatest handheld at the end of the year, with a full reveal, including name, coming at this year’s E3.
