PS Vita “Is On The Rise”, Says Sony Exec

While some media outlets have been singing PS Vita’s doom song, Sony believes the console that’s barely one year old is now on the rise, and will continue to do so as big-name games and unique experiences are released for the device.

That’s according to Sony’s senior vice president of product development Scott Rohde, adding that they’d forecast where Vita would be at this stage, and it’s in line with their internal predictions: “We’re building a lot of additional titles internally. A lot of good third-party support, you saw that announced at our press conference,” Rhodes told Joystiq.

“So, we think that it’s certainly on the rise. Still doing well. Would we like it to do better? Of course. And we’re doing everything we can in terms of providing great new content – sixty titles next year – to ensure that that will happen.

There are a lot of other bigger and smaller things that we just haven’t announced yet.”

    exactly where you expected?
so you expected the device would be out sold by the PSP?
    really?
sorry $ony, but i was not born yesterday!
as i keep saying, only $ony could spin a outhouse as the taj mahall!
they REALLY need to get new software out for it!
got into the LBP beta yesterday.
its a real shame it was not ready sooner!
its THE game that is really going to help the vitas sales!
its the only game announced that will draw allot of people, and will cater to everyone.
add on top the create features, its amazing some of the stuff people have created already and its only been live for a few weeks!
its a real shame its taken so long to get ready, i really believe the vita would be in a very different position now if LBP was a launch title!
or at least out by now.

@Nick: The LBP Vita, if needed, should be given more time to perfect it more so more people buy games for the Vita. You don’t want it to be like Resistance Burning Skies do you nick?
