A UNC-TV report details the advantages of developing games in Raleigh North Carolina compared to other locations in the U.S., where cost of living is higher, like Los Angeles, California.
It also shows pieces of Gears of War 3 multiplayer in-between, with various industry executives talking about the gaming industry, how it’s grown over 30 percent in a few years, how it’s only now coming into its own, and the many colleges offering degrees in said field.
There’s also talk of different game engines and what exactly is their purpose in the industry.
It entails much more. A sure treat for the enthusiasts.
Quench it:

hows it grown over 30%?
we have seen so many studios closed in the past few years its scary.
last year AU had 12 development studios, now we only have 4!
than theres the studios which did not get closed but lost over half their staff like sonys London studio.
it seems like every second day we get news of another studio going under!
look at midway, one of the worlds most profitable studios went bankrupt like that and had to be bought out by WB.
True. But I guess in general, talking about sales and popularity, it’s grown… Even with companies closing and others cutting back.
popularity yea, but not even sales.
thats why allot of studios are closing, because costs going through the roof and sales not being too crash hot.
look at pandemic, who use to be one of the industries most profitable game studios is now gone.
2 poorly selling games, and now there gone.
just goes to show how quickly you can go from hero to zero in this industry!
hell, look at sony they were absolutely demolishing the competition last gen, but this gen there in last place and have been since the beginning!
Yeah. That’s why they all should remain humble and treat their audience, we the gamers, with respect. But who am I kidding right?
thats right, we have the power over which studio stays open and which does not.
i only wise they would realize that!
They will if we force them to by not buying the crappy games.
