Treyach Has Outdone The Old Infinity Ward Says Vivendi

Oh yeah, when your game has become the biggest entertainment launch of all time, outstripping the studio which held the crown in the past, and in some instances, even garnering higher reviews than their effort, of course you’ve outperformed them.

That’s the sentiment the chief executive of Activision Blizzard parent company Vivendi, Jean-Brenard Levy, holds. He said Treyach’s bettered Infinity Ward’s year old effort.

“The Treyarch studio, which made this year’s game, has done better than what Infinity Ward could achieve a year ago,”said Lévy. “We have reconstructed Infinity Ward, we are very happy with the way we have been able to reconstruct it.”

We also have a third studio, which was created a year and a half ago, called Sledgehammer, which is working on Call of Duty properties. We believe this set-up of studios. . . has demonstrated it can do very well, for sure.”

Many were concerned about the future of the Call of Duty franchise ever since the Jason West and Vince Zampella fiasco, but now that Black Ops has outdone Modern Warfare 2, all the worries are out the window, making Activision a very happy company.

“Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for two consecutive years across all forms of entertainment,” Activision CEO, Bobby Kotick, said.

“The title’s success illustrates the mass appeal of interactive entertainment as millions of consumers are choosing to play Call of Duty: Black Ops at unprecedented levels rather than engage in other forms of media.

The number of people playing online and the number of hours they are playing demonstrates how online gaming has become a mainstream form of entertainment and certainly validates Activision Blizzard’s leadership role in online entertainment.”

The next stop in this battle will be what Respawn Entertainment, the studio Jason West and Vince Zampella now heads, comes up with.

Should be something.

Oh yeah? But still, losing the brains behind Modern Warfare does not bode well for them.

of course its going to hurt them, but its not the death of them.
they still have a few guys who have been there from the beginning, plus antivision will put in some experienced guys there.
will never be the same as it was, but that does not mean the studio is dead.
