Thirsty Conversations: Why Is Black Ops Still On Games Sale Charts?

Black Ops 2

People say Call of Duty is on the decline but I beg to differ, because if indeed COD’s days were numbered, and there was a mass exodus to other shooter titles occurring, then why is Call of Duty: Black Ops making waves on game sale charts across the world? Seriously, for the past two months or so, the first Black Ops title has been on US and UK charts embarrassing newly-released efforts – what gives? Remember, this isn’t Black Ops 2 we’re talking about.

Can someone tell us why? Let’s talk. Do it here: The Official Games Thirst Think Tank.

Maybe people just saw Black Ops 2 and want to play Black Ops to see the story?

Your theory makes sense, but still, most of the people, according to what the internet says, who’d want to play Black Ops 2 are those who played the first….

I suspect the internet is wrong again, and Black Ops 2 is looking to be the best COD game ever. It’s true.

    2 reasons,
    A) people are buying it, knowing that BLOPS 2 is out soon and want to see the story line,
i see what your saying above but i know of people who we just playing solely MW2 until MW3 came out and didnt bother with BLOPS 1
    B) This has recently been released on “platinum” in the UK which has meant the plrice has been slashed to £15
this will lead to people buying it who havent bothered with it before, (trophy whores like myself and even people who bought it, traded it in and then have re bought it due to A) above :)

All good points, Foxton! And all I see in November is another bestselling Call of Duty game. It’s incredible.

We all will have to accept the Fact that Millions of people love & appreciate this game.

    2 reasons.
1 it caters to literally everyone!
you can play it however you want!
however you like to play there are loadouts that will help you play that way.
if you like playing support you can, if you suck at reflexes and aiming you can play a supply guy and just load out ammo and things your team will need.
    ect, ect.
other games dont, most games say this is what we are, this is how were played, adapt or theres the door.
BF3 for instance, play it like COD and you will be hurling the controller through the window before you can say noob!
COD is one of the very few MP games that caters to you, instead of you catering to it.
thats why it got a massive following in the first place!
than what kept it, the 2nd reason, is its support!
most games out there have MUCH better MP, BUT the support is SERIOUSLY lacking!
MAG is probably my all time favorite multiplayer game!
i never enjoy MP games, but i really, really, REALLY had a ball playing that!
    AND it was a MMO!
    so wheres its support?
    PATHETIC!
i mean KZ3 i can understand, another game with AWESOME MP!
but again it flopped because of its lack of support!
but that i can understand, its not a series deemed on MP, and its not a MMO!
    MAG IS!
how can you create a MMO, than support it as poorly as zipper supported MAG!?
simple fact of the matter is no game out there is supported as well as COD!
and that means everything, from both the developers side and publishers side!
not only are the devs releasing constant DLC, constant patches, constant community events, gaming with the dev nights, constant double XP events dont forget the mountain dew promotion.
how often do other games do all that?
and how often are those games advertised as well as activision advertises COD?
put short its no mistake COD is the best selling series!
simply put its the best selling series because it does everything, and it does it ruthlessly well!
most MP games do one thing and do it half a$$ed!
COD does everything and does it as good, if not better than anyone out there!
instead of muscling their way through by doing 1 thing well, they muscle their way in by doing EVERYTHING well!
as the saying goes, no point being as good as your competition you need to be BETTER!

yeah i see what your saying, but the fact its been slashed in price will obviously be a huge and ultimately the main factor (has the price dropped elsewhere?). People will be flooding back to it in their thousands, the ones who traded it in for MW3 will no be buying it because its £15 to get them in the mood for Blops 2! if it was due to the comments above it would of stayed in the cahrts all the time, like ernest said, this is Blops remeber, not MW3 this game is nearly 2 years old! the fact that the price is slashed and then it reappears into the charts is not merely a coincidence.
And as for your comments about MP NIck, im not a fan of COD myself so cant really comment but ive heard that Blops 1 was the worse game of the fanchise, most went back to MW2
However i do think that BF3 had had tonnes of MP support, the amount of patches they have released to balance guns, remove glitches etc has been excellent.
Oh and can i also point out, its still not selling as much as FIFA is over here :)
and on a different note, is there going to be any info on The walking dead series, Epsidoe 3 is now finally avaialable on PSN after months! i havent recalled seeing anything about this game, ever on this webiste? this game is epic! i recommend everyone to download the first 2 episodes, they are free for PS users!

I’m loving you guys comments on the TC threads these days! Awesome discussions!

yeah price discounts obviously help, but there not everything.
MP for BO was not as popular because it was quite different and security wise treyarch has been behind compared to IW.
IW have always been VERY strict on cheaters.
MW2 and 3 are pretty well screened, not to say theres no hackers but theres far less than what there is in treyarchs games.
