Qriocity, Sony’s spanking new cloud-streaming music service for the PlayStation Network has been announced.
As speculated earlier today, the announcement came at the IFA conference in Berlin.
The new service can be streamed through BRAVIA TVs, VAIO computers, Blu-ray players etc. It can also be handled using one account.
“We are excited to offer our customers high quality, cloud-based entertainment experiences across many of Sony’s network-enabled devices,” SCEI boss Kaz Hirai said.
“Services ‘powered by Qriocity’ will revolutionize the way that users play, listen, watch, share, communicate, learn, discover and create their digital entertainment content.”

that is awesome. Sony truly is catching up to xbox live. i am guessing in the next year psn will be on par with xbox live. Also the ps move tech is getting good reviews, but some of the games are not. Oh well, I am still getting it for R.U.S.E, Sly Cooper, MAG, RE5 Gold Edition and a couple other games. I am not a big fan of the casual games.
I’ll get it for SOCOM. Sony’s really moving up.
i love new PSN features as much as the next guy, but sony PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! please stop wasting your time and money on this crap!
its no secret sony are bleeding money, so much so almost all of sony london studio has been laid off, they have cut so many jobs in the past few years its not funny!
ive always said i bought my ps3 for GAMES!
not music, not movies, not photos, not online functionality, i bought a ps3 TO PLAY GAMES!!!!!!!
so, sony, please stop wasting your money on this crap and put it towards hiring those people back so i can have my 8 days and the getaway 3 back!

Hey you have some points, but give them credit for trying. Although like you pointed out, they can’t afford to make any wrongs moves these days

or use that cash and time to rehiring those lost folk from london studio and bring back 8 days and the getaway 3?

I see your point nick but I’d actually love a download only (streaming) movie and tv shows subscription from the PS3 (Netflix doesn’t cut it). They’ll probably add this feature soon powered by Qriocity.
Yeah, I mean, Sony are trying hard to please their fanbase, I give them credit for continuously pushing the boundaries.
but thats the thing, the features there adding you can get from so many other places.
id much rather them put the money spent on qore, firstplay, the online movie store, netflix, facebook, twitter, vidzone, Qriocity into there games.
sony has canned so many games because they are bleeding money, but spend it where its not needed.
there cutting where they dont need to and spending where they dont need to.

move would of cost sony a ridiculous amount of money to develop, that money would of been far better put towards new exclusives.
yea its opening up a whole new avenue and revenue, but i still stand it would of been better spent expanding there first party studios.
