id Software Finally Gets A “Direct Handshake With [PS3] Owners”

by Ernice Gilbert on August 9th, 2010, under Hot, News, id Software

The guys at id Software are no novices when it comes to game development. Some of the most enthralling experiences ever enjoyed by gamers the world over came courtesy of the developer. I’m sure you’re final with DOOM.

Essentially, the boys invented the FPS genre.

But Rage is the first game said the developer, that they’ve built from the ground up on the PS3, and so, to them, it’s like a “direct handshake” with gamers who own said console.

They said all this in a depth interview with PlayStation: The Official Magazine.

“We finally get a direct handshake with [PS3] owners with Rage,” id Software president Todd Hollenshead told the mag.

“We’re not going through an intermediary this time.”

So the game’s being built on the PS3 from the ground up, which should allow id is really utilize the much talked about PS3′s power.

Looking forward to it.

But it for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC early next year.

cant wait for this to release, hopefully my ps3 has recovered by the time its out.
for some reason it does not want to update on me today.
its funny how everyone complains about the 360s notorious reliability issues but…..
well, ive had 3 360s since launch, one of them i had for a year, the other i sold because i was not using it, and now the one i have now which is over a year old.
i never had a problem with either of them, they have been rock solid!
my ps3 on the other hand, 3 months after i got it the drive stopped reading disks.
a month after that it got a YLOD.
8 months after that the drive gave out AGAIN!
a few weeks ago i was having trouble connecting to the net.
    and now this!
looks like the 360s not as bad as people would have you believe, and looks like the ps3 is not as good as people would have you believe!
why cant they both be more like the wii?
i have NEVER! heard of a wii breaking, that supposedly has a 2% failure rate where both the ps3 and 360 are well over 20%

Dude, I’ve never, ever had a Nintendo system break on me. I feel your pain though. I guess it’s because the other consoles are more sophisticated? I dunno

hell no, its because the ps3 is so sophisticated!
as the saying goes, the simpler the better!
more gadgets = more things to go wrong!
thats why the wii is so reliable, its extremely basic.
and the fact that its made by nintendo, the only company who tests there hardware BEFORE release not after!

id Software are kings for real. I mean, when you’ve invented a genre, it’s no small accomplishment.

This is one of the FEW multiplatform titles that I’m REALLY looking forward to. Graphics should be amazing, hope the gameplay is as well.
