35 Employees Laid Off At Sony Online Entertainment

Getting laid off is never a good feeling, but at the same time, if one takes courage, new opportunities are always on the horizon – and if the 35 people laid off from Sony Online Entertainment could see things that way, you never know what might happen.

How about doing their own thing? 35 minds coming together should not be taken simple at all.

“In a move to better align the company’s resources against areas of growth that meet consumer demand in today’s online market as well as improve operational efficiency, Sony Online Entertainment has eliminated just over 4% of its full-time workforce, equaling 35 people,” SOE’s Scott Gulbransen said in a statement to Joystiq.

Gulbransen Added. “The changes will better position SOE to deliver against its emphasis on developing games for a wider, more diverse audience and remaining a worldwide leader in online gaming.”

Sony Online Entertainment is currently working on The Agency and DC Universe Online, and free-to-play MMO, Star Wars: Clone Wars.

see, this is what really annoys me this gen.
sony are so huffed up in other things there letting their studios fall apart!
they canned 8 days and the getaway 3 (one of sonys most famous series, almost as popular as GTA!) for eyepet.
there spending god knows how much on move, something most people dont want, money that would be much better spent creating new games.
there buying exclusive DLC from 2K with mafia 2 and EA with dead space 2 and MoH, again money much better spent creating new games.
    god there turning into M$!
instead of giving us amazing games like 8 days or the getaway 3, they seem more interested in securing exclusive DLC, bringing netflix, face book, twitter and such to PSN and bringing TV broadcasting to the ps3.
instead of giving us what we wanted, GAMES! there more interested in turning the ps3 into a media hub which WE DONT WANT!
god, they really are turning into M$!!!!
if i want to access netflix ill turn on my PC!
if i want to access face book ill turn on my PC!
if i want to watch TV ill turn on my TV!
i spent 1000 bucks on my launch ps3, and 500 on my slim so i can play GAMES not so i can have a media hub.
    just remember that sony.

for once, i dont think so i think 500 bucks for a ps3 is cheap!
considering the things it can do, i mean bluray players alone are 300 bucks here.
none of those can surf the web, or play games.
its the games and the accessories that need a price drop, the system itself i think is cheap!
