A review done by a Hong-Kong magazine, discovered by allgamesbetainfo has given Final Fantasy XIII a 4/10 calling the RPG the “biggest swindle in gaming history.”
This is not even funny. The magazine dissects the game into bits and pieces, tearing at its core with scorching language and finally settled on an unforgiving verdict.
“The game is complete linearity until the open areas near the end. You can’t even backtrack.”
“Of all RPGs I’ve played in recent years, this is the first that has been so linear that it’s little more than riding an amusement park ride.”
“I had heard the opinion that “It’s amazing once you get to chapter 11,” but why should you spend 20 or 30 hrs in a game to get to the only enjoyable part? Just how do they intend to make me play this? Do they think I’m some sort of masochist?”
“A button mashing puzzle game with no real strategy or RPG elements and a plethora of annoying features, game as a whole is little more than a digital novel of sorts.”
“For such a game to approach 2 million copies sold be due solely to the strength of the Final Fantasy Brand.”
“Biggest swindle in gaming history.”
“Biggest joke of 2009.”

Wow. I can’t say I’ve ever played and completed a Final Fantasy game. I’ve only played about 30 minutes of FFVII, and haven’t touched it since.
My wife really enjoys the Final Fantasy games. “Our” collection, is basically her collection. She would browse my gaming magazines every now and then, if she say anything on Final Fantasy XIII.
I really wonder how this game is going to be received overall.
yeahhhh, that doesn’t sound good at all…
I really hope they didn’t mess it up i was really looking forward to a new final fantasy.
@ coffewithgames, good to hear your wife loves videogames, you’re a lucky man. @cky4987, me too, I was really looking forward to final fantasy XIII and all this bad news is really getting me worried. March will be judgement day.
@Ernice:
Yea, just today, we went by a local gaming store that does rentals, and we played a Wii game(maybe my first review, not sure yet) for about 3 hours this afternoon.
HA! too bad for the fans, the game looks beautiful but I guess that’s as far as it goes then.
Last one I beat was FFVIII, after VII the stories have gotten progressively worst and now what, unplayable?
Even the Crysis Core game was better than FFX
