Thirsty Conversations: Family Bonding Edition

by Ernice Gilbert on January 10th, 2010, under Thirsty Conversations

Greetings to the great and ever growing members of Games Thirst! Ernice Gilbert here and for those of you who don’t know me, I’m the president and founder of this website. I started off at blogspot about 8 months ago, incessantly blogging about games because gaming is a passion embedded in me ever since I can remember. I love it. Things started happening rapidly on the blog and we needed a bigger, more desirable home; hence www.GamesThirst.com

Soon, there’ll be biographies of all the staff of our website on the “About Us” page, so I won’t go into full detail about myself here. However I think it’s time we talk to each other, after all we’re family now.

First, a big thank you to all who’ve signed up and are participating with your opinions, views, tips, etc. It means a lot to us. None of this would be
possible without you and we believe it’s paramount that you know how important you are. Especially the folks who comment so often on the threads: Boox, newyearnewrule, cky4987, supra5mge, coffeewithgames and burbulla just to name a few. Keep commenting and we ask everyone to do the same, don’t be afraid to share your thoughts.

So let’s talk, tell us what you want to see and your ideas on how we could rapidly grow the community. We hope you’ve been sharing the word with your family and friends, let them know how exciting it is to be a part of Games Thirst!

Lastly, we want to create an atmosphere that is welcoming to everyone so let’s keep it respectful and warm. You can be a fanboy; that’s alright just don’t go insulting other members of the website, stuff like that won’t be tolerated. We are good people right? Yes.

    Let me be the first to comment. I’ve been a frequent visitor of the blog, so as soon as the official website opened I just had to sign up.

    I love your articles, and the website is very professional. One thing, when will the forums be up?

    Keep up the great work, I love it here.

    I like original content, and not rehashes from other sites. I know sharing “big” news is important, but maybe somehow sharing it with a twist would be nice(not sure how to twist it though).

    Also, I would love for the article authors to reply back in the comments on the articles and to reply back to the posters directly.

    The forums will be up very soon and they are being worked on as we speak. As for the coffeewithgames’ comment regarding original content, SO DO I =D which is why the site has Throwback Gaming, Gaming Chaos and the upcoming Cinematic Judgment videos (I’m not looking forward to those mainly because it means watching “awesome” movies like Street Fighter…or Uwe Boll flicks..

    We will continue to do our best to bring original content, however you must understand how limited the news could be sometimes. We even have content that other websites big small link to. Take for example this http://www.gamesthirst.com/2010/01/09/ptom-gowiii-to-launch-with-custom-design-ps3-plus-resistance-3-and-infamous-2-announcement-at-e3/ We broke this rumor and now it’s all over the web. But I agree, doing the news that’s everyone else have with an added amount of opinion, twist, with catchy headlines would help. Thanks coffeewithgames. And regarding your query about the staff replying to your comments, we will do that whenever possible, in fact we’ll make it our business to do exactly that, but sometimes we’re busy handling different things so when you comment, don’t always expect a reply.

    Also, I would like see balance. If somebody that’s contributing to the site, hates a particular console, they shouldn’t review games for that console.

    @Ernice:
    I understand about the comments, and I know the site is knew, but there should be a way for us to submit tips and contact the authors of stories, and I don’t see where I can email/contact the site right now…is that being worked on currently?

  7. Sun, 10th Jan 2010 at 3:39 am

    @coffeewithgames
    I don’t think anyone here hates any of the consoles, at least I know I don’t but I understand what you mean regarding balance. The reason I haven’t reviewed anything on the PS3 yet is because I just don’t have the system.

    There is a way, just go to the “Contact Us” page and send a tip, it comes directly to us. But we will in the future make the process a bit easier….More visible.

    I’ll do the PS3 reviews for now, Colt will do Wii, Xbox 360, PSP, etc….PC
