Team Bondi and Rockstar’s relationship was dealt a great blow when an expose about overworked staffers at the Sydney-based studio rocked the gaming world last week, and now another report has surfaced, this one talking of Rockstar’s “disdain” for Team Bondi, and how said studio will have to find another publisher for its next title.
Competition’s getting stiff in the gaming industry, with major publishers snatching independent developers to broaden their portfolio. Yesterday it was announced that Insomniac Games and EA Partners had forged a deal to release a new IP that would be on PS3 and Xbox 360. And just recently Bungie and Activision had inked a deal, one just like EA and Insomniac that will see the studio developing new multiplatform IP.
Now, THQ has joined the ranks, or at least taken the first step towards doing so. The company has just announced a partners program dubbed THQ Partners, and will be headed by ex-VP of publisher relations at IGA Interactive, Tim Walsh.
