The Last of Us Sells 1.3 Million In One Week – Biggest Launch Of 2013

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us has propelled its way to number 1, becoming the biggest launch of 2013 so far, outselling multiplatform titles like Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider with 1.3 million units sold in its first week. Quite remarkable for an exclusive game.

According to VG Chartz, that’s nearly 200,000 units over Bioshock Infinite, the former record holder, which sold 1.16 million units in its first week on the market.

The last of Us managed about 500,000 units in the U.S., a nearly 50 percent increase over its preorders of 338,000, and 120,000 units were sold in the UK.

Reading into VG Chartz numbers, it’d be fair to say that the game may have sold even more units when other regions apart from the U.S. and UK are accounted for, so expect Sony’s official numbers to be even greater than what’s listed here.
