Microsoft’s Xbox One Strategy Is “Deeply Flawed”, Says Analyst Firm

Microsoft’s Xbox One strategy is “deeply flawed”, Interactive entertainment research firm DFC has alleged, adding that the company’s entire entertainment division hangs in the balance because of it.

That’s what the firm said during its Video Games Market report, adding that last week’s scandal over Xbox One’s draconian DRM policies, its blocking of used games and always-on mandatory status helped swing the pendulum in Sony’s favor. Because of this, the firm has raised PS4′s sales projections ahead of Xbox One.

In a newly-released statement, the DFC’s David Cole said:

So far this has not had a major negative impact on the Xbox business but that is likely to change with the Xbox One launch. Right now the entire future of Microsoft’s consumer entertainment business is in question and that is likely to have a major impact on the game industry.

Xbox One and PS4 will launch later this year.
