For The First Time, I Have Preordered A Games Console

For The First Time, I Have Preordered A Games Console

It’s possible that, because I am the founder and editor-in-chief of Gamesthirst, Sony and Microsoft could each send me a PS4 and Xbox One free of charge so I could “review” the new machines. But something happened to me last week that I haven’t experienced since my “young” days, I preordered a games console.

I’m still young, to be sure, only 31, but I started gaming at an early age – before I was a teen! And the most excited I’ve even been for a console was back when Sony announced the PS2. Thing is I’ve always thought that those days were long gone, never to be seen or experienced again. I also thought it had something to do with growing up, but last week, after witnessing the reveal of PlayStation 4, its attractive price and launch lineup, a new-found wave of excitement rushed through me, the likes of which I’ve never felt.

It ended with me preordering PS4 on Amazon two days ago, bringing Killzone and Watch Dogs along for the ride, and a DualShock 4 controller. I’ve never felt so impatient for the holidays to come. I’ve never been more passionate about the medium of gaming in my life, and I’m happy to say that it feels good to feel like a kid again, even if it’s but for a while.

I guess it’s the console’s price? Maybe its sleek look? Possibly it’s the harsh reality of Microsoft’s Xbox One policies that’s made me and millions of others around the world eager to buy a console that allows us to give our games away, or loan them to friends if we so choose without Microsoft getting in the way.

Probably it’s because I know that I can escape to a cabin with PS4 and not have to worry about an internet connection to play offline games! Or maybe, just maybe it’s because, like my PS3, Xbox 360 and PS2 – even PS1, I can go back and play whatever games I want without worrying about the “cloud” not being available, or Microsoft shutting down its servers. ‘Cloud’ is just a pretty name for servers.

What ever it is, I preordered, for the first time, a games console two days ago, and I’ve never felt so good about a hardware decision in my life.

PS4 was my second console preorder ever. My first was my Vita.

Good information. thanks for sharing. i m a big fan of Sony PlayStation. I quite like the sound of the track pad on the controller, but sadly the games seems to be lacking behind that of the Xbox One.
