3 Million Xbox One Consoles Sold In 2013

Microsoft has announced that 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold in 2013 in 13 countries, adding that millions of hours of entertainment and gameplay have been spent on the new system.

That’s what Mehdi said in a new press release made available on Xbox Wire, adding that they were, “humbled and grateful for your loyalty and delighted by the millions of hours of gameplay and entertainment enjoyed on Xbox.”

Mehdi went on: “Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide. We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible.

“We also love that you are seeing the promise of an all-in-one entertainment system. Millions of hours of live TV have been watched and millions of hours of app entertainment have been enjoyed.”

Sony hasn’t released new numbers since it announced that over 2.1 million PS4s were sold at the beginning of December — just 14 days of being on sale, but we’ll get a clearer sales picture once the NPD numbers are released later this month. Still, it’s a great showing for Microsoft and the industry on a whole.
