Multiple Hints Point To Christmas Release For PS Vita

When Sony said PS Vita might not see a release in the western hemisphere this year, but would hit the mark in Japan, many gamers including myself were tremendously disappointed, but it seems as if the firm’s recognized the sales potential of releasing the portable console by November-December (duh), as multiple hints are telling tales of a Christmas western launch.

Firstly, 505 Games via Reverb Communications has sent Gamesthirst mail promoting their upcoming PS Vita game, Supremacy MMA, saying it’ll release on PS Vita “this fall”.

The press release reads:

“The Vita provides an unrivaled handheld experience that gives gamers a true console experience on the go,” said Ricci Rukavina, CEO of Kung Fu Factory. “Vita’s technical innovations and jaw-dropping graphics make this a great platform for our brand of fast paced brutal and bloody combat.”

“Supremacy MMA takes MMA where it’s never gone before, with unprecedented brutality and arcade speed, and now it’s headed for another new frontier as the sole MMA game to go to handheld in 2011,” said Ian Howe, President, 505 Games, North America. “The arcade-styled gameplay is perfectly suited for quick handheld sessions, and the game looks amazing on Sony’s hot new tech.”

Furthermore, a rumor’s rocked the UK gaming world in form of a Blockbuster flier pinning PS Vita down for a release on October 28th. It was sent to IGN by one of the site’s readers.

Sony responded to IGN’s query on Vita, telling the site the console would get a “phased global release” this holiday season.

Are we closer to PS Vita’s release than previously thought? If so, I’m a happy camper.

True. Even so, I can’t wait! Competition should be stiff, but I know where my allegiance rests.

well, doesnt that just confirm its releasing worldwide this year?
phased global release this year sounds like a limited release worldwide this year to me.
maybe instead of having large stocks in one country, there planning on having smaller stocks spread out everywhere.
