Namco Says It’ll Continue To “Focus” On Enslaved

by Ernice Gilbert on April 19th, 2011, under Hot, Namco Bandai, News, PS3

Enslaved has been nominated for an Ivor Novello award, which are presented every year “to celebrate, honor and reward excellence in British and Irish songwriting and composing.” The game didn’t do well at retail. In fact it might have failed to pass the 500,000 sold mark. But Namco believes that was the cause of poor marketing, and in light of its nomination, the publisher said it’ll continue to “focus” on the action-adventure title.

Enslaved: Odyssey To The West has been nominated for Best Original Game Score, composed by Nitin Sawhney, with nominees for James Bond 007: Blood Stone, and Napoleon: Total War.

Said Lee Kirton, Namco’s UK marketing director: “We are obviously over the moon that Enslaved has been recognized for such a prestigious award. The game is very important to us at Namco Bandai as we continue to focus on it. Unfortunately it didn’t make the Bafta cut and we and Ninja Theory are very happy that the title has finally been recognised for some of the talent that contributed to making it a stunningly original title.”

The award show will be held Thursday, May 19th at the Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.

Even with it’s faults I had a fun time with Enslaved. Cool environment, story, voice acting, music, all enjoyable. Combat was disappointing, but can’t help wishing this game received more love from the gaming community. Good to see the game come up for air again and get some press, it may sell a few more.

Indeed. I plan on getting a copy. I just can’t watch while such a decent game sit on store shelves while other less-than-worthy titles sell millions.

oh please NT just give us a prequel!
i loved enslaved, definitely one of the most potential new IPs out there!
they could go so far with it, give us a prequel way way earlier showing how the world ended up the way it is.
why pyramid is kidnapping everyone and plugging them into a virtual world.
its got such a cool environment, backdrop, plot, characters, just got so much potential to really squeeze out of it!
if any game deserves a new title its enslaved!

@Nick – A prequel, what a fab idea. How cool that would be, to play Monkey and/or Trip’s story prior to Enslaved or the pyramid mystery. Very cool. Couch co-op seemed to be made for this game too.
Timing. Yup. They never thought this one through as I remember picking this up with Castlevania and just knew it would hurt. Anyone play the DLC for Enslaved? When I saw it was about “the pursuit o/t perfect woman” and pin-ups I heaved a big sigh. Meh. Or should I get over my “meh”?
