And folks are claiming Xbox 360 is maxed out. Give Lionhead a break, because at GDC, behind closed doors, a lucky few were chosen to see the studio’s new tech demo in action, and while there, they were greeted to stunning display of graphical capability, all running on the venerable console.
Quench it past the break.
Video Thirst: Billions Of Polygons
In the vid, you’ll see modelling and textures built from “billions” of polygons, made possible by the Mega Mesh’s capability to break the game world down into individual 3D objects onto which the game artists can apply their trade.
According to Lionhead lead programmer, Ben Sugden, the goal was for the “world to appear to be a coherent, single whole, like one huge painting or sculpture.”
“Moving from 3D to image space means the artists jump from thinking about the shape of an object, to thinking about very fine surface details – such as a wood grain – in one step.”
Quench it:
Microsoft brushed the game aside last year, claiming it was nothing more than a tech demo. But we’re starting to see, bit by bit, that there’s juice left in the Xbox 360. You just have to know how to tap into it.

its not impressive, they are using motion blur and dynamic lighting just to pass it off as stunning
blah looks horrorible u suck Xbox sucks
shame there never releasing it.
hate it when people do this, they show whats possible and never release it!
we as a race have hit a real snag point!
look at cars for example, every single year manufactures show off prototypes of how cars could look and run.
they could very easily be made into todays cars, theres nothing unreasonable or expensive about them there just run of the mill materials.
but do they do them?
nope!
why dangle the string in front of the cats face, and never let him catch it?
why have something, and not use it?
I wonder if it’s really possible……?
i dont see why not.
rumors going around saying the reason this is not coming out is its going to be a launch title for the next xbox.
Yeah…should demo it’s capabilities.
