Geohot, FailOverflow, Responds After Served With Lawsuit From Sony

George Hots aka Geohot and FailOverflow have posted responses to Sony’s lawsuit. According to FailOverflow, the only reason they hacked the PS3 was because of Sony’s “removal of OtherOS”.

FailOverflow said via their website (courtesy Yahoo News): “Our exclusive goal was, is, and always has been to get OtherOS back”, adding that it does not, and has never, “condoned, supported, approved of, or encouraged videogame piracy.”

Geohot also responded, telling the BBC: “I am a firm believer in digital rights. I would expect a company that prides itself on intellectual property to be well versed in the provisions of the law, so I am disappointed in Sony’s current action.”

He added: “I have spoken with legal counsel and I feel comfortable that Sony’s action against me doesn’t have any basis.”

    hes got a point.
sony are trying to sue him for something he has not done, i had to laugh when they sent him 1 dollar to try and prove hes making money off this.
i mean come on sony, you cant be that desperate!
they f*cked up with there security, and now they have to deal with it!

Hey, a company must try to defend itself. Geohot’s kinda frightened though. At least a point is being sent.

    A message rather.

he seems fairly relaxed to me.
its going to be interesting to see what happens if he wins, we might see it become completley legal to jailbreak and run CFW on your system!

Then they’d probably stop making consoles, seeing that it’d drastically increase the risk of piracy.

no, of course there not going to stop.
sony are making a mint out of the ps3, there not going to kiss that goodbye because a few bad apples are playing without paying.

And now I hear they’re trying to launch in China. Now that’d be serious cash.
