PSP2 Has Twice The Ram Of Xbox 360 And Uses Memory Sticks

by Ernice Gilbert on October 28th, 2010, under News, Sony

If you like it, say you like it, the rumors that is, another day shines with the sun and yet another PSP2 rumor surfaces. But admit it, you like it.

This time, talk around the web claims the aforesaid, still pending an official reveal handheld, will allow the use of memory sticks and also rivals the processing power of Xbox 360.

That’s according to sources close to Kotaku, who have knowledge of the TGS metting Sony held showing off the device.

In the latest rumor, the PSP2 will be able to store games on a memory stick as an option, however Sony’s still trying to figure out “what the final non-UMD storage solution will be for the PSP2″.

Also, the PSP2 will boast a massive amount of RAM which is twice what is included in Xbox 360 and hits at 1GB. Compare that to the PSPgo’s 64MB and you’ll realize Sony’s latest handheld is a powerhouse.

The Xbox 360 has 512MB of RAM and runs on a 3.2 GHZ CPU.

Also, the site’s sources told it that the 3DS “will be as powerful as” Wii’s 64MB of RAM, “a special processor clocked at 729 MHz”.

You know Sony’s usual answer: “We don’t comment on rumor and speculation”, but that’s exactly why we believe those rumors to be true.

Anyway, you’ll be able to purchase the thing late next year.

That or the PSP Phone.

$299 would be the sweet spot. That being said, it looks more likely these days that we won’t see PS4 anytime soon.

Think about it, Move, PSP Phone and PSP2? That’s many an investment there.

theres no way it will have double the RAM of the 360, thats double the amount the ps3 has!
well, actually more technically since the ps3 only has 256MBs shared the other 256 is dedicated video memory appose to the 360s all shared.
wont be as powerful as the 360 theres no freaking way!
1 i thought they said it uses a 1GHz CPU, which is a third of the 360s.
2 the amount of power required to run a cpu of that power is ridiculous the battery would last five minutes!
add on a HD screen and touch pad and it would last 2 minutes!
3 the heat the thing would put out, i mean look how big the 360 is.
look how many vents and gaps it has, listen to how loud its fan is.
you really think they can fit all that into a handheld and not have it liquidize in the space of a minute?
    good luck!
you would need liquid nitrogen to keep that thing cool!
