Capcom’s Asura’s Wrath was unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show complete with screenshots and a God of War-ish trailer. The whole thing was intense, confusing and chaotic, and apparently it’s exactly what developer CyberConnect2 wanted to bring across: “drama — continuous drama — is also another key point” it said.
Speaking to Eurogamer in a recent interview, CyberConnect 2 President Hiroshi Matsuyama elaborated, calling the game “very Japanese”, adding it’s intentional. The company plans, however, to incorporate narrative elements found in popular TV shows like Lost, Battlestar Galactica and 24.
“That feeling where you’re at the end of an episode and you’re desperate to know what happens next — that’s a feeling of continuing drama that we want to put in the game,” Matsuyama said.
The weird thing is, I’m more interested in the game now that he’s talking Lost and 24 than I was prior. Here’s to hoping it meshes pretty good.
