For The BBC, Move Is More Precised Than Kinect

by Ernice Gilbert on June 14th, 2010, under E3, Microsoft, News, Sony

According to BBC Technology expert, Rory Cellan-Jones, the PlayStation Move provides a more precise experience than Kinect.

This is after he’d experience both of the motion devices for himself, saying he could “certainly see the attractions of throwing away the control and just flinging yourself at the game,” he did however, said he needed to experience more to be convinced.

“I was not quite convinced that Microsoft’s technology would deliver for hard-core gamers. It seemed to work well on fun Wii-like games where you didn’t need too much precision – I’m not so sure how whether it would deliver on a first-person shooter.”

“I’ve had a go on Sony’s Move motion control system, which is unveiled on Tuesday. Sony’s solution is much less radical. It has retained the controller, now adorned with glowing spheres which interact with a sensor unit on the television.

This makes the whole experience less physical than with Kinect, but it also delivers a lot more precision. Sony showed us a table tennis game which seemed to mimic the real thing much more closely than I have seen elsewhere.”

And there you have it. Microsoft’s presser will go live in a few hours. Stay here.

thats the impression ive been getting.
natal seems to have some lag in it, and misinterprets some actions.
sonys move though looks much more accurate and has absolutely no lag what so ever!!!!!
one thing that really disappointed me today was M$ did not show off any hardcore kenetic games.
sony have quite a few hardcore games lined up for move.
all M$ have is ubisofts ghost recon future soldier.

Well you’re right but it’s a start. Remember with Move, you still have a controller to work with, but with Kinect is whole different ball game and devs have to find ways to make this thing work correctly.

yeah but if you cant do something well than theres no point doing it.
casual games lag does not really matter, but imagine playing a fast paced shooter like vanquish and having lag.
if M$ want kinetic to be successful they MUST remove all detections of lag.
no one is going to pay for a buggy experience, especially not at the price were expecting.
